Active@ File Recovery is intended to recover deleted files and directories. The application supports various types of storage devices, including hard disks, memory cards, floppy disks and USB drives. It is also very convenient that it works with most popular file systems, such as NTFS, FAT, ReFS, exFAT, HFS+, Linux Ext and Unix UFS. Moreover, the tool can also extract information from discs formatted with CD/DVD/Blu-ray UDF and ISO09660.
One of the main advantages of this product is that it is compatible with practically every technology and format. In this regard, there are no limits to the supported file formats, which makes it easy to rescue lost documents, photographs and media, even if they are fragmented, compressed or encrypted. Likewise, this tool allows reconstructing damaged RAIDs.
Using the tool is quite easy, mostly if you have previous experience with this type of utility. The application resembles a file explorer in which there is a left tree panel to browse through the folders in the selected drive. The exploration is done really fast if you use the QuickScan mode, but if you cannot find what you are looking for, you can always try SuperScan, which takes longer but produces more accurate results. Once they are ready, you can filter the list or use an exact or partial name search. Luckily, you can preview various types of files using the program’s built-in viewer. Unfortunately, and this logical, some file types cannot be viewed. However, there is the possibility of using a HexViewer to inspect raw data. more
